Our Beginning

Our beginning was the classic small town beginning.  We grew up in the same rural community, attended the same schools (although a few years apart). In fact, Greg was in the same high school class as Whittney’s oldest sister, Nicole, and his brother, Matt, was in the same high school class as Whittney’s youngest sister, Ashley.  In a community as small as ours, and as close knit, it wasn’t a surprise that we knew of one another.  But we only began dating five years ago after running into each other while we were out with mutual friends.  As we began dating and getting to know each other more, we realized all the things we have in common.  It seemed only natural that after a year and a half of dating we were engaged.  Whittney is never one to procrastinate and absolutely loves to plan a party, so we were married six months after the little box with the diamond was opened.  As mentioned, we have many things in common but the biggest and strongest connection we have is our love for our families.  Because of this love we knew we wanted to start a family from the very beginning of our marriage. Through our difficulties with infertility we’ve become closer and our marriage has grown even stronger; so we know without a doubt that the child we are blessed with will be cherished forever.

Greg talks about Whittney:

Whittney is my amazing soul-mate who has a heart of gold.  She is that special person who lights up the room with her infectious smile and charm.  I feel truly blessed to have her in my life and cannot wait to see her with our child.  Whether it’s reading a book, cuddling in a chair, or taking care of boo-boos, Whittney will make a great Mom!  With her fun-loving personality and dedication to family, she loves her nieces and nephews like they are her own.  She loves to scrapbook, and I know she is waiting for the day she can begin a book to capture our family traditions and wonderful memories.

Whittney talks about Greg:

I hate clichés, but when they’re true, they are the most appropriate words you can find.  Greg is my best friend.  He is the strongest and gentlest man I have ever met.  He is my ‘country boy’, ‘sports jock’, and ‘romantic’ all in one!  He loves life to the fullest, cherishes his family above everything else, and tries to do it all.  He is just as comfortable in dirty blue jeans for farm work as he is in dress pants to take me to the theatre.  Greg will be an amazing father, too!  Our nieces, Giana and Mia, love all his silly faces and being chased around our yard.  He is patient and supportive, and I know he’s already dreaming of the day when he can coach our child on the ball field!
